Job Description

Introduction

We are seeking a Painter/Blaster to join Repairs team. You will be responsible for the painting and blasting of Metso Equipment at the Mackay Facility.

This is a Monday – Friday position and you will report into the Service Centre Manager. As this role is located in Mackay, it will be suited to a local resident.

What you’ll do

• Dressing items with a grinder for paint prepping, according to specifications set out on drawings.

• Perform routine maintenance of production tools to specifications.

• Basic process planning applicable to paint and blast shop planning activities.

• Operate hand tools and power tools appropriate to the job.

• Operate forklift/crane where required.

• Order materials for the replacement of consumable items where needed.

• Assist in the provision of on-the-job training when required.

• Manual handling of loads with weights varying between 5-20kg.

• Adhere to safe work practices and report immediately any unsafe acts or equipment.

• Stop work activities and acting, if there is a belief that there may be an uncontrolled risk to you or other people.

• Using the Company’s safety tools to assist in controlling the hazards, which apply to each task you undertake.

• Participate in Toolbox Talks and workplace inspections as required - Speaking up to improve safety.

• Assist Fitters with mechanical work when Paint & Blast are not being utilised.

Who you are

Essential

• At least 3-5 years relevant experience as a Painter.

• Experience with blasting and blasting specifications.

• Experience in operating hand/power tools.

• Knowledge and experience in safe work practices.

• Good planning and organising skills to help meet deadlines.

• Basic communication skills including reading.

• Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings.

• Basic mathematical ability.

Desirable

• Experience as an industrial painter or Cert 4 Light Vehicle or Certificate II in Automotive Body Repair Technology (Commercial Coating).

• Experience in operating Crane/Forklift/ Dogman's ticket.
