Paralegal

Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full time Paralegal to contribute to Council’s success.

  • Permanent Full Time, 9-day fortnight

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to provide high quality research and administrative support to the Legal Services team with litigation, legal advice, legislative compliance, insurance matters and major projects.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring that the Legal Services team provides high quality advice and support to the Council on all legal matters.
  • Complying with Council’s policies and standards and ensuring that all administration tasks are completed in a timely manner.

You will bring:

  • Previous experience as a paralegal and/or currently studying Bachelor of Laws.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing confidential, high quality administrative support that meets compliance requirements.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking legal research and preparing legal documents.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to effectively manage time, to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills and experience liaising with clients, stakeholders, solicitors and/or barristers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Sound communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and operating corporate business systems.
  • Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.
