Parks and Garden Operator (Cemeteries)

Council is expanding our Parks and Gardens team, and are seeking to appoint a permanent full time Parks and Gardens Operator (Cemeteries) to contribute to Council’s success and support our Community. 

  • Permanent Full Time, 9-day fortnight
  • Monday to Friday – finishing at 3.00pm
  • Located in Boyne Island/Tannum Sands

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to support Council’s direction by undertaking a wide range of maintenance in plant operation, horticulture, landscape, arboriculture, mowing, playgrounds, public amenities, litter collection and infrastructure as part of a multi-disciplined team that is responsible for the maintenance of Council’s cemeteries and memorial parkland, parks, reserves and urban streetscapes in accordance to Council’s priorities and standards.

 You will bring: 

  • Experience and competency operating an excavator, rock breaker, bobcat, and backhoe.
  • Labouring skills to carry out maintenance activities on a daily basis.
  • Experience and competency in the operation of tractors up to 40kw and ride on mowers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Sound communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient skills and experience using technical devices.
  • Current manual Heavy Rigid (HR) licence.
  • Legally able to drive a manual motor vehicle in Queensland.
