About the role
As Northern Queensland Primary Health Network’s (NQPHN’s) Payroll Officer, you’ll be the go-to person who ensures every pay run is accurate, compliant, and on time for a team that is passionate about helping Northern Queenslanders live happier, healthier, longer lives. Working within a small, supportive Finance team, you’ll own the day-to-day payroll cycle (current utilising Xero) and work alongside with our human resources (HR) team to streamline processes, solve tricky pay issues, and champion continuous improvement.
What you'll do

Coordinate fortnightly payroll, including salary sacrifice, pay as you go (PAYG), superannuation, and other deductions.

Maintain and validate data flows between EmployeeConnect (HRIS) and Xero, troubleshooting issues with HR.

Prepare and lodge superannuation, Single Touch Payroll finalisations, fringe benefit tax data and, monthly reconciliations/accruals.

Manage leave requests, monitor the payroll inbox, and keep digital payroll records.

Review, update, and support the rollout of payroll policies, procedures, provide training and guidance to employees, and assist with improvement projects.
Key selection criteria

At least five years’ relevant payroll experience (not for profit, salary sacrifice, and Xero familiarity would be a bonus).

Sound knowledge of awards, statutory obligations, and End of Financial Year requirements.

Strong attention to detail, confident Excel skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Clear and friendly communication style, with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
