Pest Management Officer
Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full time Pest Management Officer to contribute to Council’s success.

About the Role
The purpose of this position is to undertake monitoring, education, and enforcement of legislation relevant to pest management, in conjunction with the practical application of pest management services on Council controlled areas.
You will bring:

Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management (Pest Controller) (or related discipline) and/or relevant experience working in biosecurity and pest management roles with an understanding of the underlying principles of biosecurity, conservation, land and pest management.

Working knowledge of QLD Biosecurity Act 2014 in relation to weed and vertebrate pest species

Experience in pest management, regulatory investigation and enforcement activities, and interpreting and applying legislation including Local Laws.

Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal/external customers, stakeholders including members of the public and accurately document and record information.

Problem solving and negotiation skills to process complaints and gain cooperation and assistance from customers and landholders.

Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, operating corporate business systems and smart mobile technology including ipads, tablets and applications.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

Legally able to hold or currently hold an Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control Licence

Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.

This position requires immunisation against Hepatitis A/B, Tetanus, Lyssavirus and Q-Fever.
