The Position
Registrar or Principal House Officer (Psychiatry) - Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service. Join a leading mental health service and deliver high-quality care aligned with national standards. This role offers diverse experience across crisis care, community psychiatry, and specialised inpatient units, with accreditation for RANZCP training. Full-time or part-time, fixed-term (12 months), for an immediate start available.

The Facility

The facility serves as the main mental health service hub for Central Queensland, providing comprehensive mental health programs, acute inpatient care, and community-based services. Key facilities include inpatient and outpatient units, with specialized teams for older persons, youth, Indigenous communities, and forensic cases. Services cover a wide range of support, from crisis response and alcohol/drug services to psychiatric outreach and rehabilitation programs. The service is accredited for advanced psychiatry training, has strong links with universities, and offers incentives for professional development and research in a supportive regional setting.

The Requirements
MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

If qualifications were obtained outside Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA with Level 3 supervision and provide the following:

  • Evidence of successful completion of AHPRA recognised English Language test results within the last year.
  • Evidence of successful completion AMC MCQ (part 1) examination (if registering via the Standard Pathway).
  • CA Pathway doctors highly encouraged to apply!
  • Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
