Purchasing Officer

Job Description

The Situation:

Stellar is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Officer to join our client in the Mackay region. This permanent full-time position is perfect for someone wanting to get back into town or would like to stay in town without the sacrifice of salary and career development. 

Your Typical Day:
  • Manage and coordinate the procurement process, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
  • Liaise with suppliers to negotiate contracts, prices, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, purchases, and supplier performance.
  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to ensure best value for the company.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies with suppliers promptly and efficiently.
  • Prepare and present procurement reports to management.
  • Assist in developing and implementing procurement strategies to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
About You:
  • Previous experience in a procurement or purchasing role.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices and industry standards.
