We're looking for an experienced and well-rounded Quarry Manager/Mine Manager to oversee operations at our East End limestone mine, located in the Gladstone region. As part of Australia's largest integrated cement operation, we believe that the foundation of our success starts with quarry management and the mining of raw materials. In this role, you'll lead your team in safely and efficiently mining the product, while ensuring adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards, including the transport of materials to our Fisherman’s Landing site.
You will hold Site Senior Executive (SSE) responsibility for East End and manage both operational and maintenance activities. As a key leader within our Gladstone operations, you'll play an integral role in driving both strategic and operational outcomes for the region. Balancing the demands of daily operations with long-term goals, you'll make decisions that prioritize safety, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. Your ability to quickly identify and resolve challenges, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and inspire your team will be key to making a meaningful impact on the East End site.
Your Opportunity
To successfully lead our operations at our East End mine you will:
- Promote good SHEQ behaviours and challenge non-compliance. Plan and coordinate resources to identify and control risk and hazards. Ensure good housekeeping, environmental and community consideration is maintained
- Manage day to day work responsibilities for direct reports
- Continuously review costs and participate in monthly and other periodic forecasting sessions and reporting requirements. Mentor direct reports to develop their cost knowledge.
- Manage planned maintenance tasks as per planned maintenance schedule within budget constraints
- Manage mine outputs to ensure raw material quality and variability is of a high standard and meets production requirements
- Ensure the mine is progressively developed, creating daily and weekly mine schedules with long term consideration
- Develop and manage the East End Mine capital portfolio
- Ensure the site's operations are performed in the most cost effective way
- Lead, recruit and develop the people resources of the site to ensure maximum employee productivity and engagement
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the site
- Provide monthly production reporting to Executives and the Board
- Responsibly manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of mine equipment
- Proactively engage with key stakeholders such Mines Regulators, community, rail partners
What You’ll Bring
- Qualifications in Mining Engineering, Geology or other related area
- Experience as a Mining Engineer at a Mine or Quarry
- Site Senior Executive certification (over 20 people) - non negotiable
- Strong leadership skills combined with experience managing teams in mining/manufacturing
- People management skills, ideally including experience in leading an EA workforce
- A focus on safety and environment with demonstrated commitment to these areas
- An aptitude for and success in budget and cost management
- Experience in both mobile and fixed plant assets
- Well-developed written and verbal communication, demonstrated by your excellent stakeholder and community engagement
- Ability and willingness to live locally in the Gladstone region
