We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Rockhampton Clinic on a Full Time Basis HOWEVER a part-time and even 12-month fixed term position can be considered for the right candidate.

As part of a multidisciplinary team the Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse provides specialised and high quality clinical care, education and support and an exceptional patient experience to patients undergoing radiation treatment. You need to have exemplary communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate empathy for our patients and their carers.

The registered nurse plays a crucial role in caring for and supporting patients through their cancer treatment including:

  • Comprehensive patient assessment on admission to the service and as required throughout their treatment journey
  • Education on management of side effects for patients and their carers
  • Coordination of care including facilitating effective lines of communication with doctors, patient services, physicists and radiation therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Acting as a patient advocates ensuring patient needs are addressed.
  • Ensuring all patient interaction is documented, communicated and actioned.

We're interested in hearing from people who:

  • Have a current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Sound clinical experience and competence as a registered nurse
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to demonstrate empathy for patients and their carers
  • Demonstrated clinical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to plan and coordinate the clinical management of care
  • Commitment to and involvement in the application of quality improvement and evidence-based practice principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team member
  • Demonstrate reliability, motivation and flexibility.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience in the field of oncology working with a variety of patients desirable but not essential. Training in radiation oncology nursing will be provided.
