We are seeking a dedicated Research Worker to join the team at CQUniversity’s Coastal Marine Ecosystems Research Centre (CMERC). In October 2024 CMERC will be opening a new large scale seagrass nursery SeaGrow to support seagrass restoration in the Central Queensland region. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining research aquaria and the SeaGrow seagrass nursery, ensuring they operate efficiently to support our innovative projects. 

Your duties will include assisting researchers with safe laboratory practices and fieldwork, overseeing specialised equipment, and supporting the setup and maintenance of experiments. You’ll also play a key role in data entry, analysis, and report writing, all while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Position Requirements

  • Completion of a degree in a field related to the research project. 
  • Demonstrated experience within the disciplines of environmental science. 
  • Previous laboratory and fieldwork experience with the ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Proven ability to organise and prioritise work, meet deadlines and resolve problems. 
  • Previous experience in research support and aquaria or aquaculture system management (desirable).
