Safety Advisor

About the Role

Due to sustainable growth, we are searching for an experienced Safety Advisor to join our well-established Health, Safety & Sustainability division. This is a fixed-term, full-time opportunity based out of our Rockhampton, office.

Reporting to the Safety Manager the primary responsibility of this role will be to coordinate all aspects of Health, Safety, Sustainability & Risk Management for Hastings Deering employees working within our operations teams


Key Responsibilities:

This role will involve the following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and assistance to foster a safe and healthy work environment
  • Evaluate and inspect workplace environments, and practices to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Assist in pre-shift planning, scheduling and inspections to maintain operational safety
  • Contribute to and implement our safety management system, aligning with company and legislative requirements
  • Facilitate Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) investigations and coordinate accident/incident reporting and corrective actions
  • Coordinate Workplace Rehabilitation Program for injured employees to ensure optimal recovery and minimised premiums
  • Conduct inductions and training, ensuring compliance with site and Company requirements

Essential requirements

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and attributes:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Workplace rehabilitation Coordinator qualifications
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Experience in incident investigation and reporting experience
