The role
The Senior Contracts and Procurement Officer plays a key role in developing and managing Northern Queensland Primary Health Network’s (NQPHN) procurement and contract management systems and processes. You’ll work closely with staff to provide advice on contracts and tenders with health providers, while supporting the development, implementation, and governance of procurement and commissioning processes.
You’ll also manage evaluation panels, maintain contract registers, and contribute to governance and risk reporting to ensure probity and compliance across all activities.

The successful candidate will be able to:

Lead and manage procurement, tendering, and commissioning processes with a strong focus on transparency, compliance, and probity.

Oversee contract management activities including development, execution, monitoring, and reporting.

Ensure legal and ethical compliance across all contract and procurement documentation.

Deliver expert advice and training to staff on contract management, procurement, and compliance.

Support continuous improvement of systems, frameworks, and procedures in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

Maintain integrity of contract management systems and registers, and assist with audits and due diligence checks.

Key selection criteria
-
Demonstrated high level organisational and administration skills, attention to detail, initiative and experience in developing and implementing efficient and effective business systems required to handle high volumes of contracts with diverse requirements.

A minimum of three years’ experience within the field of contracts and/or procurement, or a satisfactory combination of experience and qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

Tertiary qualifications in Contract Management/Commercial Law or similar are desirable, or a willingness to participate in completing a relevant qualification in Procurement.

Demonstrated experience and understanding of the importance of supporting transparent and equitable procurement processes and procedures.

Demonstrated record of diligence and attention to detail in undertaking organisational electronic and hard-copy document management.

Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and the ability to become proficient in other software programs as required.
