Senior Project Engineer - Rockhampton QLD

About the Role
This role will support the Project Manager and Contract Administrator in the successful delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time and within budget, while maintaining high standards across quality, environmental and commercial performance.
This is a hands-on, site-focused leadership role, suited to an engineer with strong Australian construction experience who is either currently residing in Rockhampton or genuinely willing to relocate.
Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret construction drawings, specifications and contract documents
  • Plan construction methodologies, sequencing and detailed work programs
  • Estimate costs, quantities and resource requirements
  • Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors
  • Supervise site works to ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards
  • Maintain project documentation in accordance with the Integrated Management System
  • Manage subcontractor claims, variations and negotiations
  • Prepare progress claims, cost reports, forecasts, extensions of time and monthly reports
  • Monitor budgets, margins and financial performance, identifying cost efficiencies
  • Manage and record design changes and variations for client submission
  • Participate in client, consultant and authority meetings
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant standards, specifications and statutory obligations
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to engineers and site teams
About You
You will ideally have:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience working as a Senior Project Engineer (or strong Project Engineer) on Australian construction or civil infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of Australian standards, construction methodologies and contract administration
  • Experience managing subcontractors, cost control and programming
  • Excellent communication skills with fluent, clear English (spoken and written)
  • A proactive, solutions-focused and safety-driven approach
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a site-based team environment
  • Current C (Car) Licence
  • Must have the right to work in Australia (Sponsorship not available for this position)
Location & Mobility Requirements
  • You must reside in Rockhampton or be willing to relocate
  • Candidates not currently based in Rockhampton should have considered accommodation options due to regional housing constraints
  • Willingness to work away on projects if required, which may include 5/2, 10/4 or 2/1 rosters
