Service Manager - Foster & Kinship Care - Central Queensland

About the role: 

We are on the lookout for a dynamic and talented individual to step into the role of Service Manager for our Foster and Kinship Care Program in the Central Queensland region. If you have passion to support and lead a multi-service program to ensure quality and best outcomes are met for our children, young people and carers then we want to hear from you! 

The position is a permanent full-time role and can be based in Rockhampton, Gladstone or Bundaberg. Travel will be required in the surrounding regions to support our families, young people and team of dedicated Case workers. 

About the Position:

The Service Manager's focus is to lead a team of dedicated workers to provide quality support to children, young people, and carer’s according to statutory responsibility. The role will focus on delivering program outcomes and outputs within required time frames and standards, including developing tools and resources to support local area staff in their collaborative practice within their communities and across service systems. 

The role involves managing and monitoring compliance to ensure practice remains of sound quality, that best practice principles applied. The role requires skills in establishing effective community engagement systems and will take primary responsibility for contract and business relationships at a local level to facilitate the operation of services.

The Service Manager will manage the achievement and operational needs of our Foster & Kinship program contract and maintain oversight at a local level ensuring core deliverables are met within contract, compliance, and statutory and regulatory requirements. The Service Manager will manage financial expenditure, have oversight into different contract funding and brokerage in addition to providing management and HR support for their team.

This position will also participate in an on-call rotating roster.

Desirable Qualifications and Training:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, behavioural Science, or related field and/or 
  • Two (2) years of Supervisory/management experience 
  • Five (5) Years of Child Protection experience or in similar field
  • Desirable to hold a TAE

Experience:

  • Child protection or relevant child, youth and/or family service knowledge/experience
  • Contract management and operation including reporting, analysis and compliance
  • Financial management including budget forecasting, profit and loss, debtor management etc
  • People and team management including staff management/team leadership, capacity and competency development, performance and review
  • Cultural competency and commitment to cultural statement and principles
