SMP Supervisor

About the role 

  • Reporting into the construction manager, the SMP supervisor is responsible for coordinating the delivery of structural fabrication and installation, mechanical installations, and piping fabrication and installation 
  • The ideal candidate would be someone from the Gladstone area who is looking to take their career to the next level by working in an emerging industry while still remaining close to home. 
    • FIFO/DIDO can be considered for the right candidate, 2:1 roster and the client would provide flights from QLD and local camp accommodation.
  • World leading electrolyser manufacturing facility, to aid in the global shift to green energy, and decarbonisation 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Support the Construction Manager in overseeing contractors from contract award through mobilization, execution, and project completion
  • Ensure that the contractor's schedule aligns with budget constraints while prioritizing safety and quality standards. This role requires a mix of construction and technical knowledge, project management skills, and effective communication to work with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Proactively handle interfaces and resolve issues, ensuring seamless scope integration into the overall project
  • Coordinate and facilitate contractor work, ensuring the project is delivered on schedule and within budget, including reviewing contractor documentation, reporting, and attending regular contractor meetings.
  • Act as the primary client contact for the contractor during the construction of Structural, Mechanical, and Piping installations.
  • Implement the change management process as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication with the project team and other internal and external stakeholders at all times.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and technical documentation.
  • Assist in contractor cost estimation and budget management.

 

Experience/Requirements 

  • Trade Qualification in Structural, Mechanical or Piping preferred
    Driver’s License
  • White Card
  • 10+ years’ experience in project Structural, Mechanical and Piping site execution, either for the Contractor or Owner.
  • Experience in SMP for major capital projects in the renewables, oil & gas and mining preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in the management of specialised packages for a multi-discipline green field project.
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively.
  • Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of MS Office software.
  • Understanding of planning, scheduling and project controls.
  • Strong understanding of project reporting regimes and inputs to weekly and monthly reports.
