EXPERIENCED SOLICITOR (GLADSTONE)

The Centre seeks a solicitor who is enthusiastic and committed.  As a community legal centre, we work with the vulnerable and disadvantaged in regional, rural and remote areas of Central and Western Queensland. The Centre’s focus is on the provision of a generalist legal service and offers a wide range of services including the provision of legal advice, legal task support, domestic violence duty lawyer, casework, information/referral services and community legal education.

Salary packaging options:

  • CQCLC offers staff SCHADS Award rate plus a market loading payment above Award rate.

  • Salary range is between $126,622 and $137,976.

  • 15% superannuation.

About the Role

Full time position.

As part of the legal team, you will provide:

  • Direct client services by way of legal advice and assistance to Central Queensland residents by telephone and in-person;

  • Preparation and drafting of letters, written correspondence and court documents for clients;

  • Negotiating on behalf of clients, especially for those unable to advocate and negotiate for themselves;

  • Provide general information and referrals to clients;

  • Provide community legal education to the Central Queensland community;

  • Work as part of a team and contribute to team interactions and activities.

To succeed in this role you will:

  • Be admitted as a legal practitioner in Queensland and hold a current, unrestricted practicing certificate;

  • Have a minimum of five years of experience particularly with domestic violence and family law matters.

  • Hold a current open C Class drivers licence.

  • Be eligible for a Blue Card.

  • Demonstrate strong communication, time management and stakeholder engagement skills;

  • Be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities whilst still delivering results;

  • Be committed to ongoing professional development;

  • Have experience drafting relevant court documents and managing files;

  • Demonstrate strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, including in crisis situations where client safety is at risk;

  • Possess high-level knowledge of legal and non-legal referral pathways; and

  • Be committed to the mission and values of CQCLC and able to work to help achieve our Strategic Goals.
