About your role

Reporting to the Supervisor – Sourcing Services, the Sourcing Officer works within a team led by the Superintendent – Contracts and Procurement.  This crucial role is responsible for strategically securing QAL’s external services requirements; delivering long-term value, surety of supply, and minimising business risks. The key functions of this exciting opportunity include:

  • Effective delivery of the end-to-end sourcing and contracting process for critical services; from internal analysis and tender, to contract award and supplier performance management;
  • Developing high quality contracts that drive value and minimise operational and commercial risk;
  • Managing the performance of assigned supply categories valued up to $50M per annum;
  • Analysis of data, identification of spend insights and trends, as well as setting forward strategies that drive performance and value improvement;
  • Working with a wide stakeholder group across the refinery and in the community to ensure the health of long-term supply relationships; and
  • Contributing to a culture of inclusion, accountability and continuous improvement

What you will bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you should have: 

  • A commitment to safety and continuous improvement
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, economics, engineering, supply management, or a related field is preferred
  • Three plus years of supply management or sourcing experience, demonstrated commercial knowledge and with a specific focus on services and maintenance sourcing experience
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating complex supply agreements
  • Demonstrated versatility with negotiating and forming various contract styles
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to develop reports and business cases for review by the Board of Directors
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work well in a team environment and the ability to form positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • High level of skill in the use of SAP and the Microsoft Office suite is desirable
