NRG Gladstone Operating Services Pty Ltd (NRGGOS), a wholly owned subsidiary of NRG Energy Inc operates and maintains the 6 unit, 1680MW Gladstone Power Station Queensland’s largest single power station. We are seeking an experienced Production Commercial Specialist to join our Operational Services team in a staff permanent full-time role. In this strategic role, you will support and monitor the production process parameters to satisfy the needs of the commercial agreements and performance indicators allocated to the Production Department. In this role you will provide detailed analysis of the market and operational data for the delivery of clear decision supported information including recommendations to the Senior management team and NRG Joint Venture participants. You'll be responsible for supporting the operations team in their day-to-day operations by ensuring the operations team meet  contractual requirements for compliance with the Interconnection Power Pooling Arrangement.

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications such as a Degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering or a degree in Business 
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in power generation or heavy industry.  
  • Applicants must be career focused, motivated and display a safety-first team-oriented approach to work. 
  • A positive attitude with demonstrated ability to work under pressure, solve problems and work in an organised manner within a small team.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, with a genuine commitment to safety and a practical approach are considered important personal attributes for the role.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities that drive operational efficiency and performance.
  • Deep understanding of risk management, compliance, and financial assessment, especially in complex commercial environments.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to forecast supply capability, manage demand, and support critical budgeting, planning, and reporting processes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and database/spreadsheet techniques
  • Sound computing skills including the ability to use Microsoft Suite and SharePoint and be able to acquire the skills to use any other computing tool required. 

Pre-Employment Requirements: 

  • Successful completion of a drug and alcohol test and pre-employment medical
