An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Medium and Long Term Mine Planning Superintendent to lead our team in the development and execution of Life of Mine (LOM) and Budget plans. As a key member of the Technical Services team and reporting directly to the Technical Services Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring medium-term concepts, supported with geotechnical design approval, are delivered up to 18 months in advance. This multifaceted role provides leadership, strategic direction, and technical support to the mining execution team, focusing on continuous improvement, compliance, and safe operational practices.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the team in the development and delivery of LOM and Budget plans.
- Provide visible leadership and support across all mine planning processes.
- Ensure healthy, safety, environment, and community impact considerations in all planning activities.
- Develop medium-term design concepts and ensure geotechnical approval for future mining activities.
- Manage resources effectively, monitoring and controlling costs to meet divisional budgets.
- Facilitate and implement continuous improvement processes, promoting safe, efficient, and productive operations.
- Oversee inspections, audits, and compliance with environmental and safety standards.
- Develop detailed mine plans, scheduling and reconciliations to support operational targets.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders and maintain strong relationships within the business.
- Provide technical support to mining execution teams and manage changes in the workplace
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in open-cut mine planning, design, scheduling, and reconciliation.
- Proficiency in Vulcan or other mine planning software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with SAP and CMO is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record in team management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders, contractors, and team members.
- Thorough understanding of safety systems, OH&SS legislation, and mining industry standards.
- Drivers licence essential.
- Strong project management, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to analyse data, generate reports and think conceptually.
