  • Full time ongoing role in Mackay, Queensland
  • SCHADS Level 4 ($43.08 per hour + superannuation + salary packaging benefits)
  • Support individuals on their recovery journey following a suicide attempt

The Program
The Aftercare service offers non-clinical support, focusing on providing practical psychosocial assistance to individuals experiencing a suicidal crisis or those who have attempted suicide. The aim is to prevent suicide by offering care and practical support that fosters safety and aids in recovery.

About your new role
As a Support Coordinator, you'll play a key part in intake and assessment processes, supporting individuals referred to Wellways. Your role will involve delivering non-clinical care and personalized practical assistance to consumers and their families for the first three months following a suicide attempt.

In this vital position, you will help Aftercare participants develop safety and support plans and provide guidance to ensure they remain connected to crucial services during this critical period.

Leveraging your expertise, you'll engage with vulnerable groups out in the community and enhancing social connections.

To succeed in this role,

  • Have relevant qualifications or commensurate experience in working in the mental health or community services sector, generally a minimum of Certificate IV qualification
  • Experience in working with people bereaved through suicide or experience in dealing with severe personal trauma
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse backgrounds
  • Police Records Check
  • Driver's License with willingness to travel
  • Blue Card - Working with Children Check
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Module - Quality Safety and You - free online course
