Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide personalized support to clients with neurodivergent conditions (such as autism, ADHD) and mental health challenges (such as anxiety, depression, Personality Disorders, PTSD). Your primary responsibility will be to assist clients in achieving their individual goals, promoting independence, and enhancing their quality of life.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Through person-centred supports, you and your team will support participants to increase their independent living skills, form social/community relationships and take part in meaningful activities.
  • Through Frontline Practice Leadership (FPL) models support staff to develop their skills and improve their practice through exemplary practice and ensure staff provide person-centred active supports.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Build understanding and confidence of participants to exercise their rights and support them to build their strengths and engage them in meaningful ways.
  • Deliver high quality person-centred active supports to participants and ensure their needs are met as outlined in their plans.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals and family members, to provide holistic care.
  • Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all clients.

 

Essential Qualifications / Work Experience:

 

  • Cert III in Community Services (or higher and any discipline) – if not held, must commence studies within 6 months of employment.
  • Experience working with people with supporting individuals incl. youth, persons with a disability or persons with mental health
  • Experience working in a community services setting

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated ability to apply models of care to support clients with neurodivergent and/or mental health conditions for example TCI
  • Demonstrated administrative and technological skills.
  • Understanding of Human Rights and a Person-Centred Active Support model of care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously or within a team.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and energy.
