About the role

In this unique role you will be working across the Foster and Kinship Care Service and the Family Intervention Service. You will be primarily responsible for overseeing carer recruitment and monitoring the quality of care being provided to children and young people living in family-based placements. You will also be responsible for the delivery of therapeutic services to improve the functioning of vulnerable families and the safety of their children.

Each day will be very distinct in this varied role however, your key everyday jobs will include:

  • Initial screening and intake processes; the development, coordination, ongoing review and evaluation of single case plans;
  • Oversee the initial and ongoing assessment, planning, delivery and review of strategies that address children and young people's care and developmental needs across all the life domains;
  • Providing leadership and guidance to the team in achieving organisational strategies whilst ensuring the delivery of high-quality Services;
  • Manage all aspects of the workforce within area of responsibility. 

About you

As a highly deadline focussed individual, you are capable of delivering results with ease. You are a charismatic leader who assimilates seamlessly with your team members and can mentor them to overcome organisational hurdles and achieve shared goals.

With excellent communication skills, you are capable of liaising comfortably with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You have a comprehensive knowledge of legislative and service requirements and effortlessly promote a culture of compliance.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:

  • A recognised qualification (Bachelor's degree or higher) in Social/Behavioural Sciences or related discipline;
  • 2 years’ experience in leading a multidisciplinary team in a child protection context;
  • Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks including knowledge of The Child Protection Act 1999;
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of care services to children and young people in statutory care;
  • Practical knowledge of financial management systems and budgeting.  
  • Current National Police Certificate – or the ability to acquire.
  • Current Working with Children (Blue Card) – or the ability to acquire.
  • Possess Licensed Care Service (Child Protection) – or the ability to acquire.
