Technical Officer Arboriculture and Streetscapes

- $91,024 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 4) + Superannuation

Your new role
Do you have experience in the fields of arboriculture, urban forestry and tree maintenance practices? Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity?
Parks Operations is currently seeking a Technical Officer to preserve and manage sustainable street and park trees. Assist with the development and operation of a tree inventory database for Rockhampton’s urban forest and provide technical arboricultural advice and reports to stakeholders.
As a coach and mentor to other employees, you will build industry specific knowledge within your team, along with your understanding of Council Departments, policies, procedures and legislation requirements. You will have the ability to resolve conflict and negotiate, focusing on providing quality customer service.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

- Ability to coach and mentor employees to build industry specific knowledge.
- Highly developed communication skills with the ability to problem solve, negotiate and build relationships with stakeholders
- Highly motivated with a forward thinking mentality and excellent time management skills to manage multiple competing deadlines
- Ability to work together with others to achieve common goals both within immediate team and teams across Council.

Application Criteria
- Construction Industry Induction (White Card), Qualifications in Certificate IV in Arboriculture and related fields; and/or substantial demonstrated experience in the fields of arboriculture, urban forestry and tree maintenance practices.
- Knowledge of contract management and tender development, administration and monitoring.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and mentor employees to build industry specific knowledge.
- Ability to plan workload, achieve set goals and meet deadlines.
