Trainer and Assessor – Early Childhood Education and Care
(Full-time maternity leave position with potential to transition to ongoing employment)
About the Role
Kath Dickson Institute is seeking a passionate, values-driven Trainer and Assessor to deliver First Aid training and the Certificate III and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
This role is ideal for an experienced early childhood professional who is committed to supporting educators to grow, succeed and thrive. You will work closely with students in their workplace environments, delivering high-quality training, assessment and mentoring that builds confidence, capability and career pathways within the early childhood sector.
This is a work from home role based in the Mackay area, with training and assessment delivered directly within early childhood services. Regular travel is required to support students across the Mackay region through workplace visits, training delivery, assessments and ongoing guidance.
This is a full time maternity leave position with the potential to transition to ongoing employment as the region's student numbers are continuing to grow.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver and assess Early Childhood Education and Care qualifications, including Certificate III and Diploma

Provide supportive, inclusive and flexible learning experiences tailored to individual student needs

Mentor and guide students throughout their learning journey, fostering confidence and professional growth

Ensure all training and assessment meets the requirements of training packages, Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS), and regulatory standards

Maintain accurate student records and contribute to validation and moderation activities

Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain vocational, training and industry currency

Represent Kath Dickson Institute with professionalism and integrity, upholding the values of Kath Dickson Family Centre at all times
About You
You are a dedicated early childhood professional who believes in learning through connection, encouragement and excellence. You value strong relationships, accountability and continuous improvement, and you enjoy supporting others to reach their potential.
You will bring:

Certificate III and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (minimum requirement)

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent)

Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector (highly desirable)

Current First Aid Certificate

Current Positive Notice Blue Card

Current Driver’s Licence
-
Sound knowledge of the National Quality Framework and 2025 Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs)

Strong communication, organisation and student-centred support skills
