Gidarjil Development Corporation was established in 2000 by representatives of the Port Curtis Coral Coast (PCCC), to promote and support the economic, social, and cultural development in Indigenous communities within the region. Position Summary
The Ranger will be required to perform general facility & natural resource management tasks including vegetation and mapping works, as well as pest flora and fauna control. Other duties such as maintenance tasks will also be required from time to time, as instructed. Other duties of the Ranger may include, but not limited to;
- Act under the written and verbal direction of the Vegetation Leading Hand or Senior Ranger
- Prepare supplies & equipment required to undertake given tasks, in conjunction with the Senior Ranger
- Completion of paperwork and maintenance as per Gidarjil’s company standards
- Assisting the Senior Ranger with record keeping & reporting and tools & equipment maintenance depending on specific project
- Handling and mixing of site-specific herbicides
- Weed maintenance by hand, removal of trees impeding the site perimeter fence, general flora management
- Utilising ride on mower and vehicle with spray gun & boom sprayer
- Regular attendance, punctuality and reliability is a requirement of this position
- Follow Gidarjil’s personnel and safety procedures
- Accepts and performs other work, as assigned
Specific Requirements
- Ability to work predominantly on your own, as well as part of a team
- Must be fit and healthy, with a strong work ethic
- Must have good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be prepared to work early mornings, as well as weekends, if required
- Must be able to follow directions and organise tasks to meet deadlines
- Must hold a manual car driver’s licence
- Must have an Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC) qualification. A commercial operator’s licence is an advantage or be willing to obtain.
- Must have or be willing to obtain Gas Test Atmosphere and Confined Space training
Remuneration
The employee’s salary is conscript to skills and knowledge, exclusive of superannuation. This will be based upon an agreement between both, the employer, and the employee. The employee will be paid weekly. A three-month probationary period applies to this position.
Hours of Operation
Hours are normally between 5:30am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday, or as directed by the Project Co-ordinator.
