NRG Gladstone Operating Services (NRGGOS), a wholly owned subsidiary of NRG Energy Inc; operates and maintains the 6 unit, 1680MW Gladstone Power Station—Queensland’s largest single power station. NRGGOS operates the station in a safe, reliable, responsible and sustainable manner and we achieve this through the skills, knowledge, experience, innovation and drive of our people.

We are currently seeking to appoint a Workforce Transition Leader on a 12-month fixed-term contract to join the Human Resources Department.

This is a unique opportunity to support employees through the future workforce transition associated with potential closure of Gladstone Power Station business operations. Reporting to the Manager Human Resources, Health & Safety you will coordinate workforce transition planning, employee engagement and support programs, helping employees navigate change while maintaining positive workforce engagement and operational stability.

Working closely with employees, leaders, unions, government agencies, training providers and regional stakeholders, you will support workforce capability, career pathway planning and transition readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating individual employee transition and career pathway discussions

  • Supporting employees to identify transferable skills, training opportunities and future employment pathways

  • Coordinating workforce transition programs, employee engagement activities and communication initiatives

  • Supporting employees to access training, reskilling and development opportunities

  • Coordinating workforce surveys, transition readiness assessments and workforce profiling activities

  • Building and maintaining productive relationships with employees, leaders, unions and external stakeholders

  • Monitoring developments associated with workforce transition policy, the Energy Industry Jobs Plan (EIJP) and broader energy transition activities

  • Assisting with workforce capability planning, retention initiatives and critical skills risk management

  • Preparing reports, presentations and governance documentation relating to workforce transition activities

  • Contributing to practical and sustainable workforce transition solutions while fostering a positive and respectful transition environment

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, Psychology, Organisational Development, Learning and Development or a related discipline

  • Experience in workforce planning, employee support, organisational change, industrial relations or a related field

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills

  • The ability to build trust and effectively support employees through periods of change and uncertainty

  • Strong organisational, coordination and problem-solving skills

  • The ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion

  • Experience in operational, industrial, energy, manufacturing, mining or other heavy industry environments will be highly regarded

Pre-Employment Requirements:
