Role Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and resilient Disability Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in trauma response and a solid understanding of de-escalation techniques. This role involves supporting individuals with diverse needs, including intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and those who may have experienced trauma. You will play a crucial role in fostering a safe and supportive environment for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide person-centered care, promoting independence and dignity
  • Implement trauma-informed care approaches and de-escalation techniques
  • Support clients in achieving their goals within a supportive and understanding framework
  • Respond to behavioral challenges calmly, with a focus on safety and respect
  • Document and communicate client progress and incidents accurately
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the quality of client care

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in disability support, ideally with clients affected by trauma
  • Strong knowledge of trauma response, de-escalation strategies, and behavior management
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for clients
  • Certificate III/IV in Disability, Mental Health or Youth Work (desired)
  • Valid driver’s license, First Aid/CPR certification
  • Blue card and NDIS workers orientation
