Youth Worker

Job Description

Do you have a passion for supporting young people who need safety, stability and someone who truly believes in them?

  • Make a real difference. Be hands on. Build real relationships.
  • Multiple casual positions available with ongoing opportunities
  • Shift based positions, including weekends, overnight shifts and public holidays

We’re looking for compassionate, resilient and values-driven Youth Workers to join our dedicated team supporting young people aged 12–17 who are unable to live with their families through no fault of their own. This is meaningful work where your presence, patience and consistency can help change the direction of a young person’s life.

About the Home
Our residential care homes provide 24/7 therapeutic care in a safe, stable and family-like environment for young people with complex needs resulting from trauma, neglect, abuse and difficult life circumstances. This is a hands-on role — not a desk job.

From cooking meals together and supporting daily routines, to helping young people regulate emotions, attend appointments and navigate life’s challenges, you’ll be there for the moments that matter most.

Every day, we help young people to:
• Feel safe, valued and heard
• Build confidence, resilience and life skills
• Develop hope for a positive future

About the Role
No two days (or nights) are ever the same. As a Youth Worker, you will provide practical support, emotional care and positive role modelling in a home environment where young people can feel secure and supported.

You will:
• Support daily routines including meals, hygiene, homework and appointments
• Build trusted relationships and provide consistent emotional support
• Respond to challenging behaviours using trauma-informed care and empathy
• Encourage participation in education, recreation and life skills development
• Follow care plans and work closely with the wider therapeutic support team
• Maintain clear reporting and contribute to a strong team culture

This is a shift-based role requiring availability across:
• Day shifts
• Sleepover and overnight shifts
• Awake night shifts
• Weekends
• Public holidays

About You
You are calm under pressure, emotionally aware and genuinely committed to helping young people thrive.  You understand that behaviour is communication, and you lead with patience, empathy and consistency.

You bring:
• Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or equivalent
• Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
• NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
• Current Driver Licence
• First Aid and CPR
• Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain professional boundaries

Most importantly, you bring heart.
